More about Mumby’s

The following information has been passed to me by Simon Willoughby, who will hopefully be able to add more info:

“I am the great grandson of the late Cyril Mumby who ran Mumby’s Table Waters of Gosport. The family lived in a house called The Hall (formerly Stanley House) which was in Trinity Square. It was situated between the two tower blocks that over look the harbour.

Mumby’s was very successful having contracts with the Admiralty to supply mixers to the Royal Navy. When WW1 started Cyril joined the Army and was sent to Belgium. Sadly he was badly wounded and returned to Gosport to find his business, his marriage and his health in tatters. He persevered with the business until around 1924 and assume what was left of it was sold.”
